Of all the places we are visiting this summer, a destination off the grid is not one of them. Why? Because we wouldn’t be able to shop at our favorite online boutiques! Ok, a bit of an exaggeration, but seriously… what good is leaving civilization if you can’t dress like Marianne Faithfull when she shacked up with Keith Richards on the Core d’Azur in Southern France, and have the selfies to prove it? Here are five online boutiques we are loving for summer, and we think you will too.
Once in a land very far away (ok, so maybe it was more like Arizona) there lived two sisters named Isabella and Elizabeth whose dream it was to create the most gorgeous fashions ever. Admittedly that is our take on it, but when you see this boho-inspired Spell and Gypsy Collection, tell us if we’re lyin’. Before we dig in to the clothes, let’s give credit where it’s due: these ladies are way into sustainable fibers and are totally on top of measuring their impact on the earth, so you can really feel good about wearing their clothing.
Talk about boho! These clothes are so rock n’ roll gypsy, they’d make Stevie Nicks turn green with envy. The signature Spell look is all about vintage inspired lace, tassels, embroidery and hippie embellishments galore. The boho maxi dresses are summertime perfection. Check out the Wild Bloom strappy dress finished with tassels and brass beads. Chic and elegant, this dress will light up any room with an exceptional, striking design that perfectly captures the “accidentally amazing” look.
Wide-legged jumpsuits are the new maxi dress. We know, we couldn’t believe it either, but once we saw the Faithfull Brand jumpsuits, we’re rethinking our summer wardrobe. Not that we aren’t “faithfull” to our maxi dresses, but we’re all for changing things up once in a while. Think strappy jumpsuit with a midlength wide leg pant in a to-die for print and you’ll start the get the picture. Once you see The Frankie midlength with frilled hems in marguerite yellow, that maxi dress will be so last year.
Talk about French class! Poupette St. Barts has the perfect beachy dresses, two pieces and rompers (they call them jumpsuits) for summer. For those who don’t parlez the Francais, Poupette (also the owners teenage nickname) translates into “little doll.” This name is the theme for her wardrobe line, which she describes as cute, adorable and fresh. We love this folk-inspired floral print mini dress in purple. The perfect fusion of boho and sporty chic.
We first said “Bonjour” to Poupette on our visit to Saint Barth’s 12 years ago (see the blog for the article) and we can tell you, the secret is the fabric. Poupette’s clothes are structured around the female body, not the other way around. We love the Amora off the shoulder blouse and skirt in the photo above. Flirty and fun, perfect for beach hopping on St. Barths and beyond. Also check out the Clara off the shoulder romper to see how perfectly it drapes, flatters, and brings out your inner Brigit Bardot.
With Tularosa swimwear, it’s the little things that count, and we’re not just talking about the size of the swimwear. At Tularosa, it’s all about attention to detail. Even on the smallest bikini bottoms, Tularosa manages to find room for embellishments, mesh panels, and detachable halter straps (very valuable if tan lines are an issue). The one-piece Ember with pom-pom accents and halter top is our top choice because it’s flattering and offers coverage while still being cute and sexy.
This Portland-based boutique has everything a gal needs to keep her feet in style. A fun collection of independent shoe designers, Gild’s handbags and accessories are incredibly stylish to boot. I recently purchased pendant necklaces by LA designer, Marrin Costello. They look so fabulous layered together. Next on my shopping list are a pair of MIA Ellen Vegan Platform Sandal in Cognac. Sneakers on the bottom, but all woman on top!
